First, Square Enix registered the trademark "Crystal Guardians" last week. They have now announced the name will be used for a Tower Defense game on cellphones.
You will have to defend crystals using the monsters and races seen in the upcoming Final Fantasy Tactics A2 game. The game will be divided into 28 episodes and the first of these will be launched January 28th 2008!
In other news, the Final Fantasy inspired band "Black Mages" are going to release their third album, called "Darkness and Starlight". The album is set to be released in Japan on March 28th, 2008.
If you're curious, you can visit the Black Mages website by clicking on the link. There you can see a trailer of their song "Bombing Mission" from Final Fantasy VII.
As usual we'll be keeping you updated with the latest Square news
It's monday, and we have 19 exclusive screenshots of the latest Square Enix game, Crystal Chronicles: The Little King and the Promised Land.
For those who don't know, this is a game exclusive to WiiWare in which you'll play a young King that has the responsibility of restorating his village. To do this, you'll be able to hire characters of different classes. The game looks funky and pretty fun.
You can view all of the 19 screenshots in hi-res by visiting our Little King screenshots page. Here are 2 samples:
Good stuff today. First, high quality scans of the Shonen Jump magazine were published on the web. Of course we've made it a duty to bring them to you. You can view them in the FF13 magazine scans section. Check them out, they're in high resolution and very impressive. Here are samples:
But that's not all. The main thing today is that the good folks at Square Enix took pity on us poor souls and released a Crisis Core video. It's wonderful, as usual coming from that company, and really brings the main characters to life. Enjoy Zack and Angeal:
Excellent news for our European readers. Square Enix Europe announced that Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core would be launched in Europe in spring 2008. There had been many speculations and the launch time was still unknown.
For those not familiar with it, Crisis Core is a prequel to FF7. It will be released exclusively on the PSP. It takes place a couple of years before the original PS game starts and depicts the story of Zack, a SOLDIER member in a struggle with the evil Shinra corporation, who's now an empire.
As promised, here are the Final Fantasy 13: Fabula Nova Crystallis magazine scans! You can see all of them in detail on our FF13 magazine scans page.
Featured are a new character, Archer Girl (so far unnamed), as well as 2 summons : Ifrit and Carbunkle.
Important note is that a few other japanese magazines are running Final Fantasy 13 articles this month so come visit once in a while to get the latest scans. Enjoy these samples:
We thought it was crazy that Final Fantasy Network didn't have a section for FF13 wallpapers so we got down to work. On top of the gracious people who've sent us some, we've made a few of all sizes so there are now 15 of them to choose from.
Please continue sending us some but add your name to it (watermark) so you get credit for it. You can view them in our FF13 wallpaper section. Below are 2 of our favorites!
Just some quick news about the Shonen Jump scans. We have them and will publish them tommorow morning. You will get to see 2 news characters!
Due to unscrupulous webmasters abusing the shoutbox, it's been disabled. Thanks to these idiots for abusing any possible link available on internet.
If you really want a link on FF Network, which has the highest PR on internet for a Final Fantasy website, and you have quality content / traffic, send us an email.
Now, the shoutbox is disabled but it was planned already, just didn't expect to do it now. It will be replaced with a fully functional forum once the website has been overhauled and we think the time is right.
For the visitors that have been visiting this website for a long time, please be comprehensive when you stumble on a dead link. The website has hundreds of pages and had been inactive for a few months. We're dedicated to making it the #1 Final Fantasy website again.
Tonight we bring you some artwork which has been out for a few weeks but wasn't in our database. They come from both FF XIII and Versus. You can see them in the respective games' artwork section.
While we're here, we have a small request. After migrating the website (which has hundreds of pages and thousands of gigs of content) to a new host, there's some fine tuning to be done. The server has been reporting "Forbidden" page errors. Since the website seems to work normally on our end, your help would be unvaluable in tracking what causes this error. If you come across it and can report it to us, we'd appreciate it. Also feel free to contact us for anything such as questions, comments, suggestions and threats. Just click on Momonari to open mail.
Here are the artwork samples. View the artwork sections to view them in full size:
After a few months of near absence and terrible server problems, FF Network is reborn under a new administration. It may take a couple days to fix broken links and features as the website migrates to another host. After that is completed, you should see frequent updates.
Until then, here is a Final Fantasy XIII teaser. All of the following magazine scans can be found in our FF XIII magazine scans section.
Square's search for a theme-song has come to its end - an artist and a song have been discovered!
The song is named "Ai no Tema" (愛のテーマ) which literally translates to "Theme of Love". The song will be performed by newfound Japanese artist Kunslerin Emi. Fans may remember the company beginning a country-wide search earlier this year to find the perfect song for the game, and after much consideration, this was the chosen theme!
Fans may remember a "Ai no Tema" from the original Final Fantasy 4 soundtrack, composed by legendary Nobuo Uematsu. It is uncertain wether this new vocal track uses the original song as its basis, or for that matter, has any relation to it at all, but with the name similarities, and Square's track-record, we can assume the original song and the background music to this theme are probably almost one in the same.
Fans will have to wait until the game ships for the Nintendo DS in Japan to hear the song, which will be on December 20 this year. No word yet on a US release, or if this song will still be used for non-Japanese versions.
After announcing that much of the game content and story that was left out in the original American translation would be making its way back into the Nintendo DS remake of Final Fantasy 4, a brand new character has been shown!
Pochka appears to be a cute comrade of the original cast - we don't know whether it's a he or a she, or anything else for that matter; just a name for now.
We'll update you here with new details as they emerge! For now, take a look at Pochka in battle below:
